Q: Where can I find a Club near me? I'd like to try modelling first, to see if it's for me. As well as meet the people who can help me get started.

A: The "Club Finder" is a place on our website where you can search by location, or club name if you already know of one. A "club" is a dedicated flying field (mini airport) where people can fly with nice runways and accommodations. Also THE best place to meet people who will show you all the tricks and tips to get you going. Most even have free flight lessons too!

Q: Where can I find a good aircraft to start with? It has to be durable and easy to fly.

A: Online and in stores near you! Horizon Hobby is our #1 online source for models. While amazon and other online shops have affordable options, they often fly poorly and do not come with some of the nice features better models have to assist a first time flyer. 

We also strongly recommend visiting a local hobby shop to gain knowledge through person to person Q&A and receive sound advice from those who know the hobby.

Q: Why should I join a club and join the AMA?

A: A club is the safest and best way to enjoy the hobby, it is our reserved space to fly. You can make great friends, and enjoy flying in comfort.

The AMA ties all of the clubs together and helps keep them thriving. A national organization with over 100,000 members. By joining the AMA you learn many safe practices and gain access to all of the amazing resources (like this page) that are not often offered by individual clubs.
